MEET THE ODD JOB GENIE

Odd Job Genie is a handyman service in Yeadon, Guiseley, Rawdon, Horsforth, Cookridge, Menston, Bramhope, Apperley Bridge and Otley

I'm the Odd Job Genie, better known as Si. I have lived and worked in Yeadon for over 20 years, where I live with my wife and our rescue dog, Fi. Recently, I have taken on an allotment plot where I enjoy growing my own veg and designing and building raised beds and bespoke greenhouses.

I am originally a designer by trade (having gained a degree in Product Design and a Masters Degree in Multimedia Design in 1997). I spent 19 years working in the design/internet industry before deciding to work for myself. I still run my own design company (this website was designed and built by me) but increasingly I find sitting in front of a computer no longer satisfies me. With years of experience in DIY from renovating my own home and garden, I decided to set up Odd Job Genie. I have carried out a number of garden design projects for friends and family and have developed my skills in landscape design and bespoke garden structures.

My Work Ethic

My Experience
  • I have carried out many projects utilising my skills in Joinery, Plumbing, Electrical and Building work.
  • I have fully installed kitchens including the required plumbing and electrical work, bespoke LED kitchen strip lighting.
  • I have undertaken a number of hard and soft garden landscaping projects.
  • I have installed multi-level garden water features with aquatic planting and fish.
  • I have designed and built numerous bespoke garden structures including Sheds, Gazebos, insulated workshops and created shed and cellar storage solutions.
  • I have an A'Level in Technology; practical and theory in electronics and engineering.
  • I have a BA (Hons) degree in Product Design which provided me with a host of technical skills and a good grounding in finding engineering solutions to complex problems.
  • I have undertaken local commercial shop-fitting projects with my design company.
My Skills
  • I was taught numerous skills by my father from a young age and have worked on a wide variety of DIY projects.
  • Joinery - experienced in designing and building bespoke furniture and external wooden structures.
  • Electrical knowledge - I understand circuitry but will only carry out jobs I am legally allowed to do as an unqualified electrician.
  • Gardening - as a keen allotment holder, I am well versed in growing vegetables and plants. I have numerous horticultural skills.
  • Plumbing - I have fully plumbed new kitchen installations, fixed leaking taps, leaking toilets, faulty guttering and more. I will only carry out plumbing work I am legally allowed to do.
  • With 23 years in the design and web development industry I have considerable IT skills.
  • An audiophile and home cinema buff, I have practical knowledge of setting up and optimising hi-fi and audio visual solutions.

I provide transparent and reasonable pricing; you only pay for my time - all material costs are passed on to you with receipts at no additional cost.
